The 17th Annual Pay Datch Workshop was quite a success! We had almost 60 kids come out in the snow to the UT's Lake Erie Center. The kids were split into six groups each with a specific color that rotated through hands-on activities focused on habitat and water qualty. Jamie Kochensparger with Lucas Soil & Water Conservation District hosted "Worm's World" about the importance of composting; Lauren Rush with the City of Perrysburg featured the enviroscape and how pollution affects watersheds; Andrea Beard with the City of Oregon presented on plastic pollution; Beth Landers with Wood Co. Soil & Water Conservation District had an activity about pollinators and the life cycle of a butterfly; Rachel Lohner and UT grad students showcased the impact of invasive species on indigenous fish populations; and Black Swamp Bird Observatory entertained the kids with an activity about adaptation and how different bird's beaks are specialized for specific purposes. Thanks so much to our presenters and our participants for a fun and educational patch day workshop! Wear your Partnering for Clean Streams patch with pride!
