Did you know that the Great Lakes are the biggest freshwater source in the world? Lake Erie is the most productive for fishing of all the Great Lakes. Your support helps make our streams clean, clear and healthy so they can support this complex ecosystem. By donating to PCS, you help us reach our goals of restoring rivers that lead to Lake Erie beaches that promote fishable and swimmable conditions for generations.

Description

Hop in a canoe and join Metroparks naturalists and Partners for Clean Streams staff in cleaning up the beautiful Missionary Island Wildlife Area. Enjoy a scenic paddle to the island, then help collect trash and debris that would otherwise wash into our Maumee River while also contributing to a citizens science project. All trash collected will be tracked and reported as part of the ACA's Track Trash Program, which provides data to scientists working on tracking and battling marine debris pollution. We recommend you bring a change of clothes and a towel. Dress to get wet and wear synthetic clothing (nylon, spandex, or polyester, no cotton). Wear old tennis shoes, water shoes, or sandals with a heel strap (no flip flops). Bring water and sun protection. Please leave all valuables at home. We will provide all boats, life jackets and other gear.
We’ll meet and launch from the Farnsworth Boat Launch. Metroparks just added more capacity and if you bring your own boat, you can also participate. Paddlers must be 12 or older.
