Community PartnershipPartner your organization with us in creating clean, healthier and safer rivers in Northwest Ohio |
Did you know that the Great Lakes are the biggest freshwater source in the world? Lake Erie is the most productive for fishing of all the Great Lakes. Your support helps make our streams clean, clear and healthy so they can support this complex ecosystem. By donating to PCS, you help us reach our goals of restoring rivers that lead to Lake Erie beaches that promote fishable and swimmable conditions for generations. |
Only a few more days to register for the 20th Annual Clean Your Streams Day on September 17th! You need to register by Sunday, September 11th to save your spot at one of the eight kickoff locations. Volunteering for Clean Your Streams is an opportunity to participate in not only northwest Ohio’s largest stream cleanup, but also the International Coastal Cleanup happening in dozens of different countries that same day. The cleanup will begin with check-in at 8:00am Saturday morning, followed by a brief orientation on safety and cleaning protocols. Volunteers will then disperse to their respective cleanup sites and spend the next 3 hours removing trash of all sorts from the riverbanks. Afterwards, we celebrate our volunteers’ accomplishments at the Appreciation Picnic, where we serve lunch, award the Challenge winners, raffle off prizes, and recognize the hard work of the volunteers that morning. Over the last 19 years of Clean Your Streams, volunteers have removed approximately 120 tons of trash from local rivers, streams, and lakes. If you have already registered for Clean Your Streams, thank you! If you have not, register today and be a part of this community effort to protect our waterways, now and for the future!
Photo: NOAANew to our website is a page dedicated to marine debris awareness and prevention! You can find this new information on our Clean Your Streams page, under Marine Debris 101. Here you will learn what marine debris is, where it comes from, what PCS is doing about it, and how you can help. There is also a section for additional resources as this is a hot topic among many other organizations. Clean Your Streams is not only about cleaning up the trash that already exists in our waterways but also preventing trash from reaching them in the first place. Our intention is for this educational website to be a new tool for you to help prevent marine debris.
Drumroll please…Partners for Clean Streams was awarded $2,465 in grant funding for our Clean Your Streams and CYS 365 programs through the PIG Difference Grant Challenge! We came in a really close second place, with 49.3% of the votes. Thank you to everyone who voted everyday and on multiple devices! Your votes contributed to us receiving the amount of funding we did. PCS, and the rivers, thank you! See the results page on the PIG Difference website.
The 2015 Annual Report is available to view and download on our website! This Report recognizes all that you, our Partners, helped us do in 2015 and it celebrates our successes.
