Did you know that the Great Lakes are the biggest freshwater source in the world? Lake Erie is the most productive for fishing of all the Great Lakes. Your support helps make our streams clean, clear and healthy so they can support this complex ecosystem. By donating to PCS, you help us reach our goals of restoring rivers that lead to Lake Erie beaches that promote fishable and swimmable conditions for generations.

PCS News

Partners for Clean Streams Inc. is striving for abundant open space and a high quality natural environment; adequate floodwater storage capacities and flourishing wildlife; stakeholders who take local ownership in their resources; and rivers, streams and lakes that are clean, clear and safe

While many of our bigger programs have been canceled, we are continuing to advance our mission, and events, in a way that requires minimal direct interaction. Currently, all of the event's group sizes have been limited to 10 per group. If you have a large organization, we ask that you notify our Program Coordinator of your group size and how many sub-groups you will have. Masks are strongly recommended for use while out doing a cleanup, storm drain marking, or Get the Lead Out program. Masks are required when picking up and dropping off supplies at our office and at programs when the county alert is at Level 2 or above.

Our number one priority was your safety before the pandemic, and it will continue to be our priority during this time. After you drop off your equipment it will be quarantined for 4 days or properly sanitized for the next user. The following are some changes you might notice in our, typically, more interactive programs.

What To Expect For CYS 24

Our staff and our great partners have been working hard (remotely) to plan our Clean Your Streams Day for September 26, 2020. We anticipate being able to focus on cleaning our streams (and ditches, storm drains, and creeks) with your help. While we’ve always emphasized safety, we are adding in some additional components this year to maximize safety.

  • Team sizes will be limited to 10 people or less
  • Larger groups will need to split into small teams
  • Tailored check-in times at some kickoffs
  • Spreading out-groups more at clean-up sites and to more separate sites
  • No transportation will be provided
  • Appreciation goodie bags will be given out in lieu of the appreciation picnic
  • Fun and creative awards this year
  • Providing hand sanitizer and gloves to volunteers and more trash grabbers
  • Recommended mask use during times when we are 6 feet or closer from each other
  • Asking those who are sick to stay home

What This Means For CYS 365

We encourage community members to go out and perform clean-ups on their own through our Clean Your Streams 365 Program with your household.

  • Clean-up kits are available by pick-up at our office space or bring your own supplies
  • Data cards are accessible through our website here
  • Liability waiver forms are located here we ask that you fill them out before your clean-up
  • The Clean Swell app can be utilized during this time, which allows anyone to clean-up and record data through their smartphones
  • Masks are recommended when out in public and when 6 feet or closer to anyone who is not a family member

Please contact us for clean-up kits. We are flexible to work with you on a pick-up and drop off time that is convenient for you. Data cards and liability forms can be emailed to us.

What This Means For Storm Drain Marking

Storm Drain Marking is a great family or roommate project that you can do in your neighborhood (usually). Stencils and medallions on storm drains alert the community to the detriments of dumping in our storm drains and the program provides an educational experience for the youth. We will provide the following for you:

  • Informational packets on how to apply medallions and stencils are available via email
  • Supplies that can be picked up at our office
  • Register for your event here
  • Liability waiver forms are located here
  • Masks are recommended for this program and required when 6 feet or closer to anyone who is not a family member

We will act as the liaison between you and your local government to set up locations for Storm Drain Marking. Please contact us for materials and coordination.  Similar to our CYS 365 program, we can work on a pickup and drop off time that is convenient for you.

What This Means For Get The Lead Out

Partners for Clean Streams is organizing the dates and times for registration through our site. Get the Lead Out is designed to remove discarded fishing line, lead lures, and marine debris that get left behind after spring fishing. This event requires the following safety precautions:

  • Masks are recommended for this program and required when 6 feet or closer to anyone who is not a family member
  • Registration for the event can be found here
  • Liability waiver forms can be found here
  • Supply kits and in-person guidance will be provided for this event
  • Areas for clean-up will be selected carefully so that we can social distancing

Please sign up on our website for the dates provided. There are only 10 volunteer spots open per date.

Thank you for volunteering with us! Our waterways benefit greatly because of efforts like these and people like you who take the time to volunteer. You are amazing and we will continually evaluate our policies throughout the pandemic to maximize your safety.
