Clean Your Streams Registration is Alive!

PCS is preparing for our largest, most productive Clean Your Streams event to date and you are the most important part! Sign up now to help PCS and its partners clean up dozens of miles of stream banks in the greater Toledo area, making a recognizable difference in our local waterways. With seven kickoff locations, new sites, t-shirts, and your help, this year's 18th Annual Clean Your Streams promises to be the best yet! In the last seventeen years, our volunteers have removed over 90 tons of trash from local stream banks. Check-in at the kickoff sites will begin at 8:00am and the required orientation and final instructions will begin at 8:30am. An Appreciation Picnic for all cleanup volunteers will be held after the stream clean-up featuring Challenge Competitions Awards (including Change for Change), door prizes, a thank you lunch, and much more! Registration is now open and required for all participants by September 10th. Visit the Clean Your Streams web page or call 419-874-0727 to get started. We look forward to seeing you in the river!

Where is Clean Your Streams?

This year, there are seven kickoff locations around the greater-Toledo area where volunteers will initially gather for Clean Your Streams. These locations include: The University of Toledo Law School, Monroe Street United Methodist Church, Olander Park Open Air Shelter, Oregon Municipal Building, University of Toledo Medical Center, Side Cut Metropark Riverview Shelter House, and Downtown Toledo’s International Park Gazebo. We will be working in the Swan Creek, Duck Creek, Otter Creek, Ottawa River, Maumee River, Lake Erie tributaries, and associated ditches, streams, and creeks to remove all types of garbage from these stream banks. Each kickoff location has great sites for kids and families, challenge seeking teenagers, and people wanting to make a clear difference. To view a map of these locations and for more information, check out this Google Map.

Do more for your Waterways!

Clean Your Streams Day is made possible through the efforts of volunteers and the staff of Partners for Clean Streams. We work hard to ensure that all our volunteers are equipped with enough supplies and safety gear in order to make the cleanup successful. To help us continue making this event a success, we are seeking your help to cover its costs.

Change for Change, the newest Challenge category, is a great opportunity for volunteers of all ages and group sizes to benefit our local rivers and streams by donating loose change to Partners for Clean Streams. You can be part of the Change for Change competition by collecting loose change and bringing it to the Appreciation Picnic for an official weigh-in. The group with the heaviest combined amount of change will win the Change for Change Challenge and receive a Mystery Award. So dump out your piggy bank, pick up that penny on the street corner, and empty those car cup holders! Or set up a jar in the office or pass it around at meetings. To get started, print your Change for Change flyer now!

You can also support us in a more traditional way. Become a Partner with us! We are still looking for individual sponsors, business sponsors, and any size of donation. The monetary support goes towards purchasing necessary supplies for the stream cleanup, staffing to help plan and organize the event, putting together and purchasing food for the picnic, and much more. Support our year-round efforts by making a donation to Partners for Clean Streams here. A huge Thank You goes to the organizations who have already committed to making a difference in our local waterways. Our major donors are Ohio EPA, Toledo Community Foundation, University of Toledo, BP Husky, Perstorp, Johnson Controls, Lucas County Storm Water Utility and First Solar. We couldn’t do this without you!
