Currents August 2018

Did you know that the Great Lakes are the biggest freshwater source in the world? Lake Erie is the most productive for fishing of all the Great Lakes. Your support helps make our streams clean, clear and healthy so they can support this complex ecosystem. By donating to PCS, you help us reach our goals of restoring rivers that lead to Lake Erie beaches that promote fishable and swimmable conditions for generations.

GLOsidecutWe have had a fantastic summer Get the Lead Out series.  Thanks to help from local scouts, Metroparks volunteers, Cornerstone church, Trout Unlimited, Toledo ZooTeens, and dedicated individuals, we have removed and recycled almost 8 pounds of lead and line from the Maumee River.   Join us for our 5th GLO on Wednesday, August 8th from 6-8pm.  With the water levels low this time of year, we will be able to get out to Blue Grass Island at Side Cut Metropark for this program. Volunteers should wear old, closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather.  All cleanup supplies will be provided by PCS.  Please meet in the Riverview Parking lot near the playground and we will go over safety and get started on our trek across the Maumee River. If you or your group is interested in participating this program, check out our website for information and liability forms.
